The median of mercury in fish flesh from the Local Store is 0.010 parts per million, from the Pittsburgh Pool is 0.060 parts per million and from the Kittanning Dam is 0.180 parts per million.
we found significantly higher mercury concentrations in fish from the Pittsburgh Pool compared with store bought. The 95% confidence interval of the median mercury level from catfish from Pittsburgh Pool is 3.72 times to 10.2 times the median mercury level of local store bought catfish.

Then we compared the fish caught at the Kittanning Dam with those from the Pittsburgh Pool, we found significantly higher mercury concentrations in catfish caught from the Kittanning Dam. The 95% confidence interval of the median mercury level from catfish from Kittanning Dam is 1. to 4.95 times the median mercury level of Pittsburgh pool.

This is an unexpected result as both local fishers and regulators say that the water is cleaner at the Kittanning Dam.
