Residue monitoring programs. At the same time, more monitoring programs on POC residues in fish and shellfish should be launched around the ‘hot spot’ areas which should be identified more aggressively. These programs should also be more effective with regard to sample collection, to sample preparation, to the analytical technique used, as well as to uniform reporting on the residue monitoring data. Efforts of this kind would and should all lend to more accurate health advisories to be given to the public.
