In any case, if a pregnant woman were exposed to a POC at a constant dose of 10 units per day through fish consumption, and another 5 units per day from other sources such as drinking water, milk, or other food contaminated with the same or a very similar chemical, then mathematically on the 10th day this woman would have as her body burden a total of 150 units of this chemical (i.e., 100 units from fish consumption plus 50 units from other sources). This total body burden could then reflect an intake level exceeding the RfD and ADI, which was based on the NOEL (no observed effect level) so experienced by the test animals also in 10 days (after taking the appropriate uncertainty or safety factors into account).
