At the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, the Department of Epidemiology offers masters and doctoral degree programs in Environmental Epidemiology. This program is linked with the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (DEOH). It "is geared towards conducting epidemiological research into the health effects of environmental pollution. Students receive training in both epidemiological methods and aspects of environmental measurements." A Master of Public Health degree in risk assessment is currently offered through the School's DEOH.

Graduate students at the Johns Hopkins University (Bloomberg) School of Public Health may develop a knowledge base in the detection of human exposure and risk and in exposure assessment, through either the Division of Toxicological Sciences or the Division of Occupational and Environmental Health. Graduate programs in environmental epidemiology, environmental molecular epidemiology, and occupational epidemiology are available at the Harvard School of Public Health to equip students with the skills in the application of biomarkers, exposure assessment, assessment of environmental health risk, and statistical modeling of dose-response relationships.

The Environmental Health (EH) Program at the University of Michigan School of Public Health is claimed to be "one of the most highly regarded training programs" in the USA. It is said to be "built around a broad-based multidisciplinary framework" to allow graduate students to specialize in air pollution, risk assessment, hazardous wastes, and other familiar areas in EH.
