To determine if there is an additive effect between the mutation and exposure to OCP, the equation illustrated in slide 12 was used with the data from slide 22. Clearly, there is not an additive effect between the Factor V Leiden mutation and OCP use in terms of increasing risk of VT. There may be interaction if the multiplicative model is also rejected.
