He wrote several books about socio cultural anthropology, among others: The family within Australian aborigines (1913), Crimes and costumes of wild societies (1926), Sex and reprehension in primitive societies (1927), The culture of land and agricultural rites (1935), Coral gardens and its magic (1935). Some of his work was published after his death, such as Dynamics of cultural change (1945) and Magic, science and religion (1948).
