The way to success in our society is to work in order to have monetary success. Former societies were even poorer, but poverty was not considered a problem, because economic welfare was not acknowledged as a social value, such as in medieval times. Sociology studies the social dimension of man and the formation of social groups and related institutions, functionality, and changes. In order to elaborate a study methodology, it is necessary to define precisely the subject of the study. As a result of this, there are specialized sets of sociologies such as that of: organizational sociology, work, knowledge, politics, justice, religion, art, education, economy, women, medicine, urban and rural sociologies, worker sociology, and so on.
When a natural disaster occurs, it often happens that members of society are ready to assist in victims’ rescue at the very start of the disaster. This immediate collaboration later comes under the city’s authority.
When citizens do not collaborate, it becomes a problem subject to study, since it goes against the unity and conservation of society. To deal with this, it will be necessary to determine the reasons that cause such lack of cooperation.
A possible explanation can be found for the case of lack of cooperation, associated with contemporary individualism, in which only one’s own personal situation matters. Moreover, if he/she is satisfied with abundance, social welfare and richness, there will not be any motivation to participate in social cooperative activities.
