Navajoa, Guaymas & Hermosillo, Sonora were studied along with points Mazatán 76 km east of Hermosillo and El Novillo 132 km east of Hermosillo. Navajoa has plentiful water at Rio Mayo, whereas Guaymas & Hermosillo have lowered watertables, both with the threat of seawater intrusion. The water demands of civic overpopulation cause overpumping. Navajoa trees are tall (> 10 m), stable and old, whereas young Guaymas trees are < 3 m like ones near Hermosillo, except that a few of the Navajoan tall torreyana type are still present there.
