These data from the antiplatelet Trialist’s Collaborative Study. 45000 patients were randomized either to antiplatelet drugs or to placebo. In this slide I show the benefits of antiplatelet therapy among patients with diabetes and without diabetes. Among both groups there is around 20% reduction in event rate. For every 1000 patients treated (without diabetes) some 36 events are prevented and for patients with diabetes it is 38 for every 1000 treated. There are suggestions that patients with diabetes should use up to 300 mg of aspirin daily.
