In this slide I summarized the three major studies of antihypertensive therapy in diabetic subjects. Two other intervention studies (with placebo control) shows dramatic benefits in terms of coronary heart disease risk in around 55-60% reduction and between 20 and 70% reduction in the incidence of stroke.

All three studies showed much greater benefit that might be expected as results of blood pressure lowering by this amount.
