In this population study we measured 7 markers of insulin resistance variables, 7 measures of endothelial dysfunction and 4 measures of acute phase activation among 107 healthy subjects 40-75 years of age. There are correlations not only between the members of the insulin resistance cluster, of the endothelial markers, and of acute phase markers, but also similar relationships between the different clusters such as markers of endothelial dysfunction was associated with those of insulin resistance.
