A. The horse walks a half mile on the track, then jogs a half mile to warm up. The horse gallops twice a week with a closing 1 f open gallop at about 15 s/f. This speed and distance of the open gallop is repeated 10 times in 5 weeks. Note how long the horse is heavy breathing while cooling out (walking). Maybe 15 min?

B. At 1 mile around for each day of 6/7 being continued, the horse gallops twice a week with a closing 2 f open gallop at about 15 s. This speed and distance of the open gallop is repeated 10 times in 5 weeks. All of these breezes in stages A & B are at the end of the 1 mile gallop. Do not race the horse before April.

C. Gallop 1.5-2.0 miles all 6/7 days for 4-7 weeks. Work the horse 2 f once a week at 13 s/f and later to 3 f. That gives 26, then 39 s for 3 f. Also, you can let them express their own speeds. Are you going through the quarter pole turn? You don't have to finish at the wire! You're not workibg for the clocker.

Both long distance works and the speed 12f/s belong to superhorses, although a cheap horse going a distance can work half a mile. Walking and bute will sooner or later get the sore horse back to the races.
