Our problem is likely to be bucked shins. The traditional treatment is to dilitate the blood vessels of the legs. Standing bandages around the cannon bones exemplify raising the blood flow in the forelegs. Whether these treatments really work is anybody's guess.

The idea seems very attractive, yet the proofs of the benefits of locally increasing the circulation are missing. Sometimes a current of tap water is held on the forelegs for 15 or more minutes. At a few to 20 minutes veins contract then later expend under tap water. An enormous amount of labor time in hosing horses is at stake. However, many intellegent trainers do not use hosing.
