Population-based retrospective school surveys may be possible with modern technology for automated data entry. Nearly every school in the US has nearly every child’s immunization history on file and these records need to be maintained in order to exclude unimmunized children during an outbreak. These records include data of vaccine administration and birth dates that could be forwarded (on the individual level) to state health departments for data entry.
