There are many strengths to retrospective school surveys. Most importantly, they capitalize on already existing infrastructure – immunization records that already exist in the schools as schools must collect and maintain this information to make sure children have met the school immunization requirements. Retrospective schools surveys therefore have very high completion rates, particularly where school immunization laws are uniformly enforced and these surveys include children who have migrated into the study area.
