Another potentially rich source of information on the Indigenous population, and one which has the potential to yield small area data, is the broad range of administrative data collections. These are collections that exist to facilitate the delivery of services, but which are often used to provide information about the health status and health needs of a population.

Among the most important health-related collections are vital registrations, hospital records, cancer registries and other chronic disease registries, and communicable disease notification schemes.
