The surgical treatment of childhood epilepsy is growing rapidly with favorable results .
It is extremely important not to wait for remission in most children with intractable epilepsy .If a surgical solution is possible it should be used early in the child’s decline .
Patients must undergo an extensive presurgical evaluation to localize definitely the focus from which the seizures arise.
Standard evaluation :
  1. General medical and neurological history
  2. Seizure history ( etiology , description , anti-epileptic drug history )
  3. Neurological , psychiatric , neuropsychological and psychological evaluation
  4. CT and MRI scans
  5. Waking and sleeping EEG and review of previous EEG’s
  6. Video- EEG recording
  7. SPECT , PET
