I am a residency trained-board certified public health physician at the Center for Public Health Practice, University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health.

I began teaching this subject because a needs assessment completed as part of the Northeast Public Health Workforce Training Program determined that public health workers needed and wanted training in the basic principles of public health. This was a logical subject for me to teach since as a generalist public health physician, I have at one point or another in my career performed all 10 Essential Services of Public Health.
