It is important that travellers seek travel health advice in the first instance and seek this advice early. In general, we should recommend that travellers see us at least 6-8 weeks before travel, but of course it is never too late to provide travel health advice, even to those that come to consult us at the last minute! An important first step of the pre-travel health consultation is the risk assessment for every traveler. A separate Lecture discusses the nature of the risk assessment that must be undertaken.
