In Australia, in hospital practice, our main concern is vancomycin-resistant
enterococci (VRE's) and Methicillin-multi-resistant Staph. aureus (MRSA).
Fortunately, vancomycin-resistant strains of Staph. aureus have yet to be found
in Australia although they have been isolated in Japan and the USA.
In the community, resistance is less, but respiratory pathogens are showing increasing resistance to important antibiotics as are enterobacteriacae |
