The Community Guide initiative is led by the the independent nonfederal Task Force on Community Preventive Services. Membership within the Task Force represents not only a wide array of areas of health practice (infectious disease, chronic disease, environmental health, maternal and child health, primary health care, public health and others) as well as institutional perspectives (managed care, state and local health departments, and academia). Other disciplines represented include epidemiology, economic analysis and behavioral sciences).

The Task Force is supported by staff at the CDC and subject matter expertise for each systematic review is also provided through chapter development and chapter consultation teams which include experts within other Federal agencies as well as others in private and public health organizations.

It’s the Task Force which reviews the analysis of the evidence by chapter development teams and issues findings based on the strength of the evidence.
