One result of
the WB financed erosion was faster runoffs with more slit to abraid the
landscape. Another is the abandonment of ranches with migration to the
cities or the US. Mexican forests were plundered under the banner of beef
cattle. The WB blames the rural poor for deforestation which is true. Finally, no kickbacks have been reported over the past 30 years. By 1986, the cattle declined following their own erosion, and deforestation continues as ever. |
