Studies are powered to detect a relatively small, but potentially public health- significant survival rate difference of 10%, with up to four covariates and an interaction term in models (power of .80 [1 – b] and a of .05).

Total samples required are: 3,180 each breast and colon cancer cases for each Canadian and American incident cohort.
