The following examples are valid for LISTSERVERS of Listserv(R) type...

If you are interested in knowing which lists are available in a named LISTSERVER, say the Center for Diseases Control LISTSERVER, you could send a message to:

listserv@listserv.cdc.gov

with the command:

LISTS

If you are interested in a detailed listing of available discussion lists managed by the same LISTSERVER, send the command:

LISTS DETAILED

If you would like to receive a listing of any available discussion lists managed by more than one LISTSERVER which uses Listserv, send a message to any of the Listserv LISTSERVERS, for example:

listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com

with the command:

LISTS GLOBAL/  searching term

where searching term is replaced with a word or phrase which describes the subject of interest. The search engine looks for the string of text you entered. If you enter "child", then words like "children", "childhood", etc., will be searched for too.

If you would like to know about more options, then send the command:
