EGroups

Searches for discussion lists in LISTSERVERS of EGroups, a free/paid discussion lists management service.

Any list from EGroups could block its inclusion in the search engine catalogue depending on the list MODERATOR / ADMINISTRATOR decision.

Those lists whose LISTSERVER doesn’t operate inside EGroups are not searched by this engine.

The most dependable and academic health lists do operate in LISTSERVERS from academic / government institutions.

OneList

Doesn’t exist just as it was, since OneList has been incorporated into EGroups.

Please refer to Egroups in the future.

Listserv

The LISTSERVERS which operate with Listserv (R) could offer a web interface for searching discussion lists locally instead of using CataList search engine.

An example of web interface from a LISTSERVER using Listserv is RedIris from Spain.

Usually CataList permits to find the same information if the LISTSERVER hasn’t been blocked from appearing in the search engine catalogue.

Majordomo

Is a free licence software program for LISTSERVERS oeprating under Linux or Unix operating systems.

Some of these LISTSERVERS with Majordomo offer a web interface to search discussion lists locally.

Unfortunately there are not search engines like CataList, which include all the LISTSERVERS working with Majordomo.

An example of web interface for Majordomo: http://www.majordomo.com .

Mailbase

This LISTSERVER from United Kingdom, manages more than 2000 lists for different academic issues.

Mailbase offers a web interface to search lists, subscribe/un-subscribe, review archive files, etc.

Lyris

This program for LISTSERVERS has a web interface to search for discussion lists.

An example: The Centre for Curriculum Transfer & Technology in Canada. Remember that TileNet is a search engine that includes LISTSERVERS which operate with Lyris but also with other type of software for lists management.
