Global Pittsburgh is designed to network scientists across disciplines and across boundaries. It will serve to develop collaboration, which will incubate the formation of new ideas world wide, and facilitate research. Scientists are a very communal group. We will talk with each other if there is something to say, and if the communication will facilitate our research. Finally the system will establish a new conduit between research and the lab, as now in developing countries it often takes 5 years between our scientific findings and when it reaches the classroom. In developing countries, much of the research does not reach classrooms.
