. The current generation ultrasound systems have decreased in size from rolling cart to hand held and have dropped in price by a full tenfold. Hand held ultrasound units  will not only look for congenital anomalies in utereo, but also be available to screen for breast cancer and other diseases. Eventually they will be chip size and a few dollars. In so doing they will be able to be embedded in any number of places.
