Human beings are naturally competitive - they like to win. The lure of a prize, a record, a medal for some people is considerable and they will train long and hard for the chance of success.

Team games may vary from semiprofessional to muddled amateur but can produce shared experiences, fun, group support and some healthy competition as well as the fun of beating another team or the tribulation of losing.

Games with friends and family - beach cricket, hide and seek, just "going for a walk" make for enjoyment and companionship in a shared and enjoyed activity.

Hobbies may have active physical activity as a by product - rock climbing, surfing, dancing….even bell ringing.

What people enjoy they will do often and the fashion for say "ten pin bowling" or volley ball or croquet will provide degrees of exercise for groups dependent on age and inclination.

Travelling to work, the walk from the car park or to the station, perhaps a bicycle ride can be an enjoyable part of the days activity.
