Tricyclic antidepressants are commonly used to treat this condition. They are given in doses of 10 mg at bedtime increased to 150 mg or a dose that controls symptoms.Inform patients of the side effects (dry mouth, sedation,constipation, urinary retention).

Gabapentin, SSRIs and Venlafaxine are used, but efficacy is not proven.
