The health intervention priority index (HIPI) is the result of the conversion of traditional health data in such a way that HIPI numerical value increases with the increase of impact of a health intervention.

The steps of the approach are:

  • Compile a list of behavioral risks to health that are specific to the population of interest.
  • Compute priorities of the candidate health risks.
  • Identify health interventions which demonstrate reduction in prevalence of targeted behavioral risks.
  • Predict amount of reduction of the risk factor of interest.
  • Compute priorities of the candidate health interventions.
