The variable HIV % for prevalence is not considered as much on target or precise as living with AIDS (L) over population (POP) as LP = (L/1000/POP). LP is the proportion of the population. Take Singapore for instance: L/1000/POP is 3.4/4.6 = 0.739 LP. Since both LP & HIV are measures of prevalence, they are redundant.
