As to be substantiated later, the interrelationship among public health, health risk assessment, epidemiology, toxicology, and other (health) disciplines can be theoretically structured as depicted in this flowchart. According to this theoretical hierarchy, both epidemiology and toxicology, with the support and collaboration of other disciplines, make their triumphant way to public health primarily through health risk assessment.
However, as depicted in the next flowchart, in practice the interrelationship between any two fields is bi-directional. In fact, the actual interrelationships among the various disciplines are much more complex than those shown here.
