U.S. Population Aged 65 Years and Older, actual and Projected, 1900-2030

The U.S. population, as is true with most developed countries, is aging. Also, the absolute number of older persons is projected to double by 2030 as the large “baby boom” generation ages. However, the absolute number of older persons in developing countries, such as India and China is increasing, as well, so, a worldwide aging challenge exists. Therefore, epidemiologic studies of aging and age-associated diseases have national and international relevance.
