In TTS District, the endemicity of malaria is determined by the AMI as:
a. AMI = 50 : Low
b. AMI 51 – 150 : Moderate
c. AMI 150 – 250 : High
Over 250 : Very High.

The number of villages which have a high Annual Malaria Incidence has tended to increase every year. In 1995 five percent of villages had more than 250 cases per 1,000 population. The percentage of villages with more than 250 cases per 1,000 rose to 13.5 percent in 2000.
