Heteroresistance is a problem for a clinical laboratory personnel because the resistant subpopulation usually grows much more slowly than the susceptible one and therefore may be missed when in vitro testing is performed.Neutral ph, the presence of sodium chloride and prolonged inocubation, up to 48h, is promoting the growth of the more resistant subpopulation.
