Staphylococci are widespread in nature. Generally they have a symbiotic relationship with their host, but if the natural cutaneus are damaged by various reasons, Staphylococci can act like pathogens. Species most commonly associated with human infections are St.aureus, S.epidermitis, S.saprophyticus and S.haemolyticus.
