Measles as a disease. Beginning like a bad cold, the child develops a fever and a rash. The patient always feels miserable and may be ill with a bad cough and a high temperature. Measles can cause encephalitis, sometimes resulting in brain damage. It can also cause convulsions, ear infections, bronchitis and pneumonia that can lead to longterm lung troubles.
