Non-invasive biochemical scaling of fibrosis considers markers of the liver function, such as the levels of alanin aminotransferase (ALT), asparatate aminotransferase (AST), alpha2 macroglobulin, haptoglobulin, g-glutamyl transferase (transpeptidase) (GGT), gamma-globulin, total bilirubin and apolipoprotein A, and general inflammation reflected by thrombocyte counts. Evaluations using a combination of biochemical markers compare favorably with liver biopsies in predicting fibrosis [42-44].
