This slide shows the dose-response relationship for three type of dust (PVC, coal and quartz) in relation to pneumoconiosis. The dose is expressed in term of weight per unit volume (mg/ m3) times the length of exposure (years). There is no difference between coal and PVC which are considered as relatively « inert » in this case. Quartz is known to be very reactive with the lung tissue.
