In all these metropolitan areas, Multidrug therapy (MDT) to leprosy disease has significantly reduced active prevalence rate(PR/10 000 population). Impact on new case detection rate (NCDR) at macro level is not satisfactory. Of course, significant declining trend in NCDR is observed in selected slums/self settled leprosy colonies as reported by Bombay Leprosy Project, Mumbai, India. Long-term observations are necessary both in urban and rural areas.
