Natural enemies of larvas include fungi, bacteria like Bacillus thuringiense, aquatic bugs (Notonectidae), dragonfly naiads, copepods and Toxorhynchites species larvae. Adult mosquitoes are attacked by spiders, adult dragon flies, mites and booklice (Psocidae). Other enemies of larvas are fishes like the guppy Poecilia reticulata. Commercially available B. thuringi-ense produces toxic crystals that kill many insects.
