The center of origin of A. aegypti seems to be southeastern Asia. A. a. aegypti, A. a. queenslandensis and the small dark forest type A. a. formosus like A. albopictus are all Asian. A. aegypti is distributed from northeastern US almost through Argentina. It occurs worldwise within 35° north and 35° south latitude, although in summertime A. aegypti can invade to 45° north.
