During recovery, the focus of disaster response shifts away from the acute injuries and illnesses caused by the disaster to the everyday needs of the general population. The impacted population may have increased needs for medication, shelter, food, water, clothing, and emotional support that must be addressed. Hospitals must also contend with the emotional needs and fatigue of their own personnel.
