Believe or not, the course of history was influenced by the effects of disease. This lecture seeks to highlight the impact of some of the major infectious diseases on the course of history, and how some of the outcomes of diseases affect our culture even to this day. By understanding the impact of uncontrolled disease, we can better understand why we need to understand their etiology and control their spread.

I will also talk about some of the people who contributed to the evolution of Epidemiology to the Public Health Discipline as we know it today.
