In 1997, the Infection Control Program carried out its goal for a system-wide integrated program. Under the direction of the HOSPITAL Infection Control Governing Board and its Chairman, review of infection control program activities and reporting of surveillance findings throughout the continuum of care was ongoing. The scope of services for the Infection Control Program centered around surveillance for nosocomial infections; monitoring of infection control practices; orientation and continuing education in infection prevention and control; and consultation with departments and new programs.
