Education and communication are key goals of all public health officials, and the military epidemiologist is no exception. The epidemiologist helps design the core training curriculum for medics, nurses, physicians and other medical personnel serving in the military. I can’t vouch for the system in other militaries, but in the IDF I meet personally with each and every class of incoming physicians at the Military School of Medicine. We discuss the epidemiology of key medical issues in the IDF, and I stress the crucial role of the primary care provider in effective disease reporting.

Epidemiological findings are often published in internal periodic reports, and choice results may be shared with the civilian medical community in international medical journals.
