A study in microalbuminuria also had encouraging results and suggests that Captopril can decrease the progression to overt nephropathy. A large number of other trials have shown similar positive results using both ACE and other blood pressure lowering agents. The vigorous treatment of blood pressure and borderline hypertension, i.e. blood pressure of 130/85, is now readily accepted. Also the use of an ACE inhibitor in patients with microalbuminuria is recommended therapy.
