All three sites use the same screening methods and diagnostic criteria. The screening is performed during the 24 to 28 weeks of gestation after the ingestion of 50 gm of glucose. If the value after one hour exceeds 130 mg/dl, we recommend 3 hours of a 100gm oral glucose tolerance test, after an overnight fast of 8 hours to 14 hours. Blood samples are drawn at fasting, 1, 2, and 3 hours. If two or more values equal or exceed 105, 190, 165, 145 mg/dl during fasting, 1, 2, and 3 hours respectively, one is considered as the GDM.
