  • its prevalence, which is arround 50% in developing and 10% in developed countries,
  • the higher prevalence in children and childbearing age women, and
  • the consequences of Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) on child behaviour and development, work performance and immunity, make IDA a very important problem from a public health perspective.
