In a cross sectional study, a random sample of the reference population show some proportion have the disease; some have not. From the proportion of disease + population, some proportion are expose to a certain risk factor, some are not expose; the same thing happen in the proportion of No disease. We can make some comparisons in order to generate hypotheses.
